Song: Little Heart
(Tune: I’m A Little Teapot)
I have a little heart
And it goes thump, thump, thump
It keeps right on beating
When I jump, jump, jump
I get a special feeling, when I look at you
It makes me want to give you a hug or two.

Activity: 6 Little Valentines (with Stuffed Toy Friends)
Six little Valentines were sent to my house,
The first one said, “I love you, From Mouse.”
Five little Valentines, brought in a wagon,
The second one said, “Be mine, Love Dragon.”
Four little Valentines full of love and merit,
The third one said, “You are sweet, From Parrot”
Three little Valentines just for me,
The fourth one said, “Be my honey, Love Bee.”
Two little Valentine’s mailed with care,
The fifth one said, “Here’s a hug, From Bear.”
The last little Valentine, from a turtle named Jay,
This one said, “Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Each toddler was asked to choose a stuffed animal friend, one for each animal/creature in the rhyme above. As we went through each rhyme message above, I asked , "Awww...where's (insert animal/creature here)?". I then gave a paper Valentine to the animal/creature in question, and said, "Thank you!". Unfortunately, I added this activity to the roster at the last minute, so I didn't have enough Valentines for each child. I only made 6 heart-shaped paper Valentines with the messages from the rhyme above. To make up for the lapse, I asked the first set of children to give back their paper Valentines so that we could share and do the rhyme again. In the second round, the rhyme above didn't necessarily rhyme, since some of the toddlers chose stuffed animal friends that were different from the ones in the rhyme. Regardless, I think everyone had fun "receiving" Valentines.

Song: 5 Dancing Ballerinas using stick puppets
(Tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
Five dancing ballerinas
Prancing on their toes
They twirl and spin and jump
Then off the stage she goes.
(count down to one)
One dancing ballerina
Prancing on her toes
She twirls and spins and jumps
Then off the stage she goes.

Board Book: Itsy Bitsy Spider

Song: You Are My Valentine (with bell shakers)
(Tune: You Are My Sunshine)
You are my valentine
My only valentine
You make me happy
Oh yes you do
And you should know dear
How much I love you
Here’s my heart
It is for you.
