May the 4th Be With You Craft Day

Back in May, we held a May the 4th Be With You Craft Day to celebrate pop culture and Star Wars. We had a pretty good turn out. The above image shows the three crafts we prepared. Below, one of my favourite books this year, Rod Duncan's super cool The Bullet-Catcher's Daughter, is being bookmarked by a cute, felt Chewbacca bookmark.

Felt Chewbacca Bookmark
You can find the template for this in the Star Wars website.

Materials:
-dark brown, black, red/coral, white, light brown felt
-a really good pair of scissors that can cut through felt
-googly eyes
-glue

Light Saber
We were inspired to make the light sabers from this Disney craft page.

Materials:
-pool noodles cut into shorter pieces; we used mini foam float-boards from the dollar store, cut into strips
-duct tape
-black electrical tape, or a black permanent marker

R2-D2
You can find the template for R2-D2 here.

Materials:
-white card stock paper
-a sheet of blue stickers you can cut into different shapes
-markers/crayons/pencil crayons

Wish I had taken some photos of the ones the kids made, but alas! I think I forgot my camera then...

Happy crafting!
